Yogaphysio offers dedicated meditation sessions, courses and retreats devoted specifically to learning meditation techniques and to support more regular practice.
Vipassana means ‘insight’ in Pali (the ancient Indian language used to transmit the Buddha’s teachings). Insight refers to the direct seeing into our truths – those abiding revelations that help us change our life to live engaged with our deeper values. Insight or Vipassana meditation is not simply a system or a technique. It is also the direct opening into the deeper truths of life. Support for this opening may be cultivated in meditation through training the mind in calmness, mindfulness and inquiry.
Meditation is also an integral part of classical yoga. These teachings focus on better understanding the mind, so as to cultivate stillness for meditation and contemplation of life. Also other indian based philosophies, such as vedanta and tantra inform some of the meditation practices taught.
The emphasis on all these philosophies is on direct experience. They are non-doctrinal and people of all faiths (Christian, Atheist and Rationalist) have benefited from practising this style of meditation.
