Happy Gut - Tues 1st Aug (6.30pm)

A 4 week nutrition course to empower you in your own health!

This intelligent course will give you the tools to become aware of the effect that different foods have on you, so that you can make your own perfect diet, personalised for your very own body and lifestyle. What a lot of people don't realise is that the healthiest food on the planet can create inflammation in your body (and all the diseases that comes with it) if it is the wrong food for you!

Although general principals will be shared, the course acknowledges there is not one perfect diet for everyone for good health. This is why it is so important to learn how food affects you personally, so that you can make your own choices. A lot of chronic health issues start in the gut. Did you know that by improving the health of your gut and removing food sensitivities, a lot of your other seemingly unrelated health issues will improve: headaches, skin issues, pain, mood issues, fatigue, braing fog, hormonal imbalances, etc.

Reprogram your genes and your body!

Over the 4 weeks of the course, we will cover what are believed by most scientists to be the major causes of chronic health diseases in our modern world. I will give you the information you need to be able to make the appropriate lifestyle changes so that you can enjoy good health for the rest of your life.

Week 1 'Blood sugar balance':

  • Learn simple ways to balance your blood sugar to dramatically reduce cravings and stabilise your energy level during the day.

  • I will also introduce you to the concept of food sensitivities and the effect they have on you. I will give you tips and guidelines to help you figure out which food you might be sensitive to.

Week 2 'Restore a Healthy Microbiome':

  • Learn about the trillions of bacteria living in your gut, and the effect they have on your health.

  • Learn how food affects the population of bacteria in your gut and how to change the way you eat to starve the bad bacteria and encourage the growth of good bacteria.

  • I will share with you my favourite fermented food recipes, and also talk about probiotics and prebiotics and how to use them.

  • I will also introduce the concept of low and high FODMAPs food as they have a big influence on the gut bacteria.

About Genevieve....

"I got into medical school straight out of college in Canada. I loved learning everything about the human body, I found it absolutely fascinating. Unfortunately, when the time came to start working in hospitals, I became quickly disillusioned... I really didn't feel like I was much more than a pill distributor! I kept trying to like what I was doing, but I became quite depressed about it all, and being a naturally very cheery person, I realised that maybe it just wasn't for me. So I did something that very few people do after studying medicine for 6 years, I quit!

I was not in the best place emotionally at the time, I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. So I thought that the best thing to do would be to go  to India! This is where I first discovered Yoga and I have been passionate about it ever since.

When I came to live in Australia in 2008, I decided to become a Yoga teacher and I have been sharing my passion with others since 2009.

I loved teaching yoga to a group ( I still do!), but I wanted to know more about yoga and how to use it to help people with specific health issues (I've always been the kind of person craving more knowledge... a perpetual student!). So I went on to do further study in Yoga Therapy to help me further empower and support individuals to manage their own health and wellbeing using the principles of Yoga.
